Montreal

Montreal is the largest city in the Canada province of Quebec, the second most populous of Canada. It is situated in the homonymous island of the St. Lawrence, being a major industrial center, shopping and culture of North America. Montreal is one of the most important cultural centers of the country, hosting several national and international events. Among them are the Just Pour Rive, one of the largest comedy festivals in the world, the Montreal Jazz Festival, one of the biggest jazz festivals in the world, and the Grand Prix in Montreal. With all these events, together with its old town, Le Vieux – Montréal, Montreal is considered the most European city in North America. Montreal has a better educated population in the world, and Montreal is currently one of the safest cities of Americas, and in 2005 only 35 homicides were committed throughout the city. The architecture of many apartment buildings of two to four floors of the city is characterized by the presence of stairs outside the building, in order to save internal space. As a primary center of Canadian culture, Montreal has many museums. Among them are the Redpath Museum and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. The cultural complex of the Palace of Arts houses the Montreal museum of Contemporary Art, and has several theaters. Known as city of Saints, Montreal has numerous churches and basilicas. These include the Basilica of Notre – Dame, Basilica of Saint Patrick and Saint Joseph’s Oratory. The latter is the largest church in Canada, owning the largest dome of its kind. The building Place Ville Marie, one of the underground city of Montreal, where is located the largest underground shopping mall in the world. On this trip, you can also see the Olympic Stadium which opened in 1976, which has the highest inclined tower in the world with its 170 feet tall. Or even watch a hockey game; the sport’s most famous and practiced in the city of Montreal. It will be an unforgettable trip.
